Higgins Beach in Scarborough, Maine is a favorite spot for a reason—it has that perfect mix of laid-back vibes and stunning views. The beach itself is small and peaceful, with soft sand, gentle waves, and epic sunsets that make for a super romantic backdrop. Plus, the cute old beach cottages nearby give it this cozy, nostalgic feel that’s hard to beat.

If you’re thinking about a destination proposal, this place is definitely a win. You can stroll along the shore, check out tide pools, or even sneak in a little surf session. It’s close enough to Portland for a fun post-proposal dinner, but still feels like a private getaway. Basically, it’s the kind of spot that makes popping the question feel even more magical!

• 2 Lights State Park , Cape Elizabeth: 2 Lights State Park is a stunning park that encompasses 41 acres and because it’s high up on the rocky coast, you have incredible views!
• Kettle Cove, Cape Elizabeth: Kettle Cove is a small beautiful cove that has the spectacular ocean scenery, the rocky cliffsides, the beach to explore on, and boardwalks through wildflowers and tall trees.
