Maine is not only where I call home, but also just a place that has so much beauty and opportunities to explore! Caitlyn + David wanted to show just that in their coastal Maine engagement photos.

Kennebunkport Maine Engagement Photos

When Caitlyn came to me, she had a very specific vision in mind! She really wanted photos that captured that classic “coastal Maine” look, which is my kind of session! They both had a lot of family members out of state and they just wanted to get them excited about celebrating their Maine wedding with them in the coming year.

My first thought of a very quintessential “coastal Maine” location was definitely Kennebunkport, one of the stunning seaside towns here. It has beautiful hydrangea bushes hugging the cobblestone streets. There’s the old worn cedar sidings of the buildings alongside the water. And of course, there’s the sailboats that sit in the water surrounding the town.

I knew it was perfect and just the spot for these Maine engagement photos! We had the best time just exploring the town, crossing over bridges, climbing on rocks, and smelling the flowers. We got to watch the sun set into the water at the end of the session and it was the most perfect Maine summer night!

Taking Engagement Photos in Kennebunkport

Kennebunkport is a popular tourist destination here in New England, and it’s easy to see why! It’s a quiet, unique town with lots of history and is such a fun place to just explore! Here are some ideas if you want to take photos in Kennebunkport.

• Visit one of the beaches. On the Kennebunk side, Gooch’s, Middle Beach, and Mother’s Beach all have the sand, rocks and tide pools that are typical for our Maine beaches. They’re a fun place to explore and capture some beautiful photos by the water!
• Walk around by the shops. I love the fun colors and coastal feel of all the shops here in Kennebunkport and we loved exploring them and capturing some photos with those as a backdrop!
• Stop by Ganny’s Garden. If you want some photos with beautiful flowers and lots of color, this is a great spot! This is something else I love about Kennebunkport, all of the stunning flowers everywhere!
• Enjoy all the boats. Another big part of capturing coastal Maine photos of course is all the boats! We loved just looking out and taking in the views of all the different boats, and if you want to make it even more fun, you can rent a boat and get out on the water!

Wedding Venues in Kennebunkport

Kennebunkport is such a beautiful spot and makes a great place to get married! These are a few of the wedding venues in this area that I highly recommend!

• Hidden Pond: this is a resort and wedding venue that gives seclusion in nature and sits on 60 acres of forest. It is gorgeous!
• Nonantum Resort: this is a coastal wedding venue that is very versatile and has a stunning waterfront space!
• Vinegar Hill Farm: this venue features a late 1800’s post-and-beam barn with beautiful original and authentic charm.

I’ve also done weddings in Kennebunkport on private residences and those are absolutely stunning as well if you have access to that!
