Foss Mountain is a dreamy destination here in New Hampshire for engagement photos, with rolling hills and views of the White Mountains.
Foss Mountain in New Hampshire is definitely a favorite destination of mine for engagement photos! The short hike up is super manageable, even if you’re wearing a dress (or carrying camera gear in my case!), and the payoff is seriously stunning. At the summit, you’re treated to wide-open views of the White Mountains and rolling hills that seem to go on forever—especially beautiful at sunset when the sky is filled with the warm colors.
The open, rocky summit gives you tons of space to move around and capture those dreamy, natural shots without worrying about others around you. Plus, the peaceful vibe up there makes it feel like your own little world. And the fall up here? It is absolutely stunning with the changing colors covering the mountaintop!
Here are a few other options to choose from here in New Hampshire that are equally beautiful!
Franconia Notch State Park is a gorgeous spot if you’re into more woodsy, fairytale-type scenery. There’s a beautiful waterfall and moss-covered rocks, plus little trails that lead to quiet, tucked-away areas. It also makes the dreamiest spot for an elopement!
You can drive right up to the top here, and the views of the valley and surrounding mountains are incredible. It’s especially gorgeous in the fall when the foliage fills the area. Plus, the ledge itself adds a dramatic touch to your backdrop!
If you want coastal vibes without leaving New Hampshire, this park is a winner. It’s got rocky beaches, old stone ruins, grassy trails, and ocean views all in one spot. Great for couples who love the water or want that beachy-but-rugged New England feel.
The summit has an amazing view straight down the notch that feels straight out of a postcard. It’s a bit more of a hike, but if you’re up for an adventure with a rewarding view at the end, this is the spot for you!
Here’s a breakdown of what each season in New Hampshire brings for engagement photos—each has its own vibe, so it really depends on what you’re going for!
Spring – Late April to early June is a sweet spot. Everything’s starting to bloom, the trees are getting their fresh green leaves, and there’s a soft, romantic feel to the light. You’ll probably catch some lilacs or wildflowers, especially in gardens or open fields. Just be ready for some mud if you’re heading to the mountains!
Summer – From June to August, you get long days, golden sunsets, and everything is lush and alive. It’s perfect for beach sessions, or mountaintop views. Just plan around the heat and maybe some bugs—early morning or golden hour shoots are best for that dreamy lighting and cooler temps.
Fall – September through mid-October is absolute magic. New Hampshire’s foliage is next-level—fiery reds, oranges, and golds everywhere. It’s a super popular time, so some spots can get a little busy, but if you time it right (weekdays or early in the day), you can get those iconic, cozy autumn shots without a crowd.
Winter – If you want a cozy, romantic vibe, late December through February can be stunning. Think snow-covered trees, warm sweaters and boots, and snuggling up with your person. Some places look like a snow globe, and the soft winter light is actually really flattering. Just prepare and bundle up!
Each season has its own charm, so you really can’t go wrong—it just depends on your style and what kind of backdrop you’re dreaming of!
