The quaint little seaside town paired with the rocky coastline and gorgeous beaches makes Ogunquit, Maine the ideal option for engagement photos!
Ogunquit, Maine is such a dreamy spot for engagement photos with the sandy beaches and rocky coastline creating the perfect New England vibe. Walk along the beautiful Marginal Way with the stunning ocean views or capture the gorgeous golden hour light at Perkins Cove. Or, of course you can venture out onto the beach for magical photos along the water. This sweet town is full of natural beauty, as well as the quaint seaside village, that makes it ideal for coastal Maine engagement photos!
This is a popular spot for both tourists and locals and it’s easy to see why! It’s a beautiful ocean-side walk with over 39 benches so you can sit and enjoy the view. The path takes you along the water and rocky coast, with beach roses that hug the sides.
As you walk the path, you’ll pass a mini replica lighthouse overlooking Ogunquit Beach and likely catch some surfers in the distance! Towards one end of the path, you’ll find yourself in quaint Perkins Cove, with seaside cottage-type gift shops, bathrooms, and restaurants.
Once you’re down there, you can’t miss the adorable footbridge that crosses over the harbor with sailboats covering the cove. It’s such a fun spot to capture seaside Maine!
The different seasons here in Maine all have their own unique charm and beauty, but can definitely determine the overall vibe of your photos. Here’s what each season looks like in Maine to help you plan out your session!
September through mid-October is a pretty magical time of year. Maine’s foliage is breathtaking with the bright reds, oranges, and golds everywhere. It’s a super popular time, so some spots can get a little busy, but if you time it right (weekdays or early in the day), you can get those iconic, cozy autumn backdrops without a crowd. Ogunquit is extra romantic this time of year!
If you want a cozy, romantic vibe, late December through February can be stunning. The snow-covered trees and being bundled up in warm sweaters creates a pretty magical combination. The soft winter light can actually be really flattering, but just prepare and bundle up!
Late April to early June is a sweet spot. Everything’s starting to bloom, the trees are getting their fresh green leaves, and there’s a soft, romantic feel to the light. You’ll probably catch some lilacs or wildflowers, especially in gardens or open fields. Ogunquit really comes alive this time of year!
From June to August, you get longer days and everything is lush and alive. It’s perfect for beach sessions to dip your toes in the water, and just exploring the area. Just plan around the heat and maybe some bugs; consider planning an early morning or golden hour shoots for that dreamy lighting and cooler temps.
Maine is packed with some truly gorgeous locations for engagement photos, many that I love so dearly! Here are just a few of my favorites aside from Fort Williams!v
