Fort Williams is the ideal location for engagement photos if you’re wanting some of the best coastal views that Maine has to offer.
Fort Williams is one of the most dreamy locations for engagement photos here in coastal Maine, because nothing beats the views of the beautiful Portland Headlight. It also has the classic rocky coastline and gorgeous ocean views that you’d be looking for with an engagement session on the New England coast. It’s the perfect place to explore with your person and has plenty of variety for your photos. It’s definitely one of my most recommended locations here in Maine!
Fort Williams is one of the more popular seaside locations here in Maine, because it is home to the most photographed lighthouse, the iconic Portland Headlight. And once you get a look at this stunning lighthouse, you’ll understand why it’s a must-see! This means it also makes a truly gorgeous backdrop for photos.
This park has so much to offer, and I love that there’s more than just one spot to stop for photos. There’s so much natural beauty here and this will ensure your gallery has plenty of depth to it! You’ll of course have the stunning lighthouse views, but you can also have the rocky coast, as well as the beautiful gardens that are pretty magical to walk through.
It’s definitely an ideal spot for engagement photos if you want the quintessential Maine experience, which is exactly what these two were looking for!
The different seasons here in Maine all have their own unique beauty, but can definitely determine the overall vibe of your photos. Here’s what each season looks like in Maine to help you plan out your session!
September through mid-October is pretty magical. Maine’s foliage is breathtaking with the fiery reds, oranges, and golds everywhere. It’s a super popular time, so some spots can get a little busy, but if you time it right (weekdays or early in the day), you can get those iconic, cozy autumn backdrops without a crowd.
Fort Williams in the Winter
If you want a cozy, romantic vibe, late December through February can be stunning. The snow-covered trees and being bundled up in warm sweaters creates a pretty magical combination. The soft winter light can actually be really flattering, but just prepare and bundle up!
Fort Williams in the Spring
Late April to early June is a sweet spot. Everything’s starting to bloom, the trees are getting their fresh green leaves, and there’s a soft, romantic feel to the light. You’ll probably catch some lilacs or wildflowers, especially in gardens or open fields. Fort Williams really comes alive this time of year!
Fort Williams in the Summer
From June to August, you get longer days and everything is lush and alive. It’s perfect for beach sessions to dip your toes in the water, and just exploring the area. Just plan around the heat and maybe some bugs; consider planning an early morning or golden hour shoots for that dreamy lighting and cooler temps.
Maine is packed with some truly gorgeous locations for engagement photos, many that I love so dearly! Here are just a few of my favorites aside from Fort Williams!
