This week-long celebration for Sarah and Zen was one I will never forget! Their Maine island wedding at Newagen was such a testament to their love and filled with so much natural beauty.
The distance between these two wasn’t going to stop them from still capturing engagement photos that they could treasure forever! Zen is an Air Force pilot and Sarah is in school to become a doctor, so they’ve spent a lot of their relationship apart. But they didn’t want to miss out on something so important!
We decided to include engagement photos in the week before their wedding, so we could all get to know each other and still give them the engagement photos they’ve always dreamed about. We became fast friends and their sweet dog Addie even got to join in which was so special!
Sarah and Zen really wanted their engagement photos to capture the natural beauty of coastal Maine and Willard Beach was truly a perfect location! There’s plenty of spots to explore and get right by the water, as well as walking along the rocks.
Here are some more stunning coastal Maine engagement photo locations if you want this same vibe!
If you want a quintessential Maine rehearsal dinner, then including lobster is the way to go! This lobster bake was incredibly fun, and was a full experience for everyone attending. It was something so memorable for Sarah + Zen, as well as all the guests!
It was on the front lawn of Newagen and they were going around teaching people how to eat lobster, which was so fun! They had delicious blueberry cobbler and blueberry pie, as well as the lobster cupcakes. Such a unique idea to give your guests a full Maine experience!
Sarah and her bridesmaids got ready for the day at a stunning little cottage that overlooked the water. Her dress was incredibly special, as she had taken parts of her mom’s wedding dress and used them in her own. It made the dress such a memorable part of the day!
Personalized details bring me so much joy, and I love that one of Sarah’s bridesmaids actually made all the invitations, which of course included their dog Addie! There were so many sweet moments with Addie throughout the day and you could see their strong bond.
Zen, because he is in the military, needed to wear his blues. But underneath, when he takes his jacket off, he had to have a little fun with it and he called it his party shirt. You can see the sleeves are Star Wars, which is his favorite, and he also wore some fun socks that were a gift from Sarah with pictures of Addie on them. All of the fun details were such a testament to their personalities!
One of our favorite things about Newagen is that right on their property is this stunning backdrop that overlooks the harbor. A perfect spot for a first look and some seaside portraits!
The chapel where Sarah & Zen had their ceremony was another part of the day that was extremely sentimental! This was a church that Sarah’s grandmother used to sing at, so for them to have their wedding here was very special. It’s a stunning chapel on the rocks overlooking the water, and I captured some of my most favorite photos with this as a backdrop!
Newagen is a picturesque seaside inn in Southport, Maine where you can have the most gorgeous oceanfront wedding. It has 20 acres that you can enjoy for your day, as well as an oceanfront restaurant and inn, so your guests can conveniently stay on the property. It’s a perfect place to celebrate your day with breathtaking surroundings.
It was so meticulously decorated for Sarah & Zen’s day, and the venue said it was probably the most beautiful they had ever seen it! Sarah really wanted a tent wedding, but her mom helped transform this space to really make it fit what she had envisioned.
The celebration was an absolute blast and I loved when Sarah had an outfit chance, which was actually the rest of her mom’s dress! A highlight of the night was the typical Filipino tradition, the money dance. They play music and people use safety pins to pin money to their outfits, which brought so much laughter and was a perfect way to bond with their guests!
This wedding was so fitting to Sarah & Zen’s relationship and it was such an honor to capture all of these special occasions!
